As I journey through my university experience, each year has brought its own set of challenges and revelations, shaping me into the person I am today. Year one was a whirlwind introduction to university life, set against the backdrop of a global pandemic. Learning the ropes of my practical course online was both daunting and surprisingly ideal. It forced me to adapt quickly to a new way of learning and connecting with my peers.

Year two marked a significant shift as restrictions eased, allowing us to venture back into the world. Exploring a new campus, navigating through unfamiliar buildings, and embracing fresh challenges became the norm. However, in my third year, it was during my placement year at Mixd web design as a junior engineer that I truly began to understand my career aspirations. While I gained valuable insights and skills in coding, I realised that my true passion lay in creativity.

Entering year four, my final year, with a renewed sense of purpose, I redirected my focus towards illustration, motion graphics, and animation. Fuelled by my interest in the music industry, I embarked on creating music a music video for my advanced graphics for broadcast module, with my first release garnering over 1.2K views within the first week on the band’s personal social media page. This early success solidified my belief in pursuing a creative role.

Now, as I find myself part-way through my final semester of university, I take a moment to reflect on my journey thus far. I’ve encountered highs and lows, discovered my strengths and weaknesses, and honed a myriad of skills along the way. Currently, my plate is filled with exciting projects, including the development of a professional portfolio, crafting a short story, and delving into a production project.

Notably, I’ve excelled in my advanced graphics for broadcast and web development modules, achieving overall first-class marks. Ending my previous years with a first-class grade further reaffirmed my dedication and commitment to my studies.

As I look towards the future, I am filled with optimism and a sense of accomplishment. My university journey has not only equipped me with the necessary skills for my chosen career path but has also instilled in me a passion for creativity and a drive to pursue my dreams. With the support of my peers and mentors, I am confident in facing whatever challenges lie ahead and excited to see where my creative pursuits will take me.
